The electrodeposition of Ag nanoparticles and nano-structured dentrites

Nano-structured silver film was obtained by potentiostatic electrolysis. The effect of the surfactant (sodium dodecanesulphonate) and the substrate Cu and Ti on the morphology of the depositions was investigated. SEM observation showed that Ag nanoparticles with the diameter of 30 to 35nm were obtained by electrodeposition in AgNO3 solution containing sodium dodecanesulphonate on copper substrate. The surfactant conduced to the formation of Ag nanoparticles. Whereas Ag dentrites were obtained by electrodeposition in the same solution on titanium substrate. The diameter of the lateral branch was less than 100 nm with some nanoparticles of 35nm in average diameter. The morphology of the sample was greatly affected by the different substrate. XRD experiment showed that the structure of the sample was a fcc structure although their morphologies were quite different.
