Stability of high structure of nanodiamond composite coatings
High temperature stability of Ni-Co- nanodiamond composite coatings, which was heated in high temperature pipe furnace, was investigated. The dispersion of nanodiamond and structure of coatings were examined by high resolution electron microscopy (HRTEM). The surface morphology of coatings and physic transformation were observed by SEM and DSC. The density of coatings was increased and grain size was decreased during high temperature annealed The maximum microhardness of coatings occurred after annealed at 300℃. A part of carbon atom of nanodiamond had dissolved into Ni-Co matrix of coatings after high temperature annealing. It results in crystal lattice constant of coatings increasing. Large numbers of Moorie fringes were observed due to Ni and diamond near (110) spacing at 1000℃ annealed. It is confirmed that onset temperature of graphitization of nanodiamond in composite coatings is more than 1000℃.
