The effect of Argon pressure on size distribution and photoluminescence of Silicon nanoparticles by PLA

We synthesized Si nanoparticles by pulsed laser ablation (PLA), the particle size can be controlled by changing Argon pressure. Scanning electron microscopy and the corresponding size analysis demonstrate that the size of Si nanoparticles decreases with increasing Argon pressure. The Si nanoparticles were investigated by photoluminescence spectroscopy at room temperature, and found that these silicon nanoparticles show two double-peak emissions located at 364nm and 392nm in violet region and 446nm and 462nm in blue region, this is attributed to the interaction between the core Si nanoparticles and the surface oxides.
