Crystallization Behaviors of Poly(ethylene terephthalate) Fibers at three-dimension Confinement

The confined crystallization behavior of surface-modified poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) fibers at different draw ratios was studied using differential scanning calorimetry. It was showed that the peak of crystallization shifts to lower temperature after the PET fibers were three-dimension confined. The values of degree of supercooling, maximum crystallization time, and crystallization half time of surface modified PET fibres were all bigger than those of surface non-modified PET fibers. All results showed that the crystallization of surface modified PET fibers was more difficult at three-dimension confined condition.
