A Preparation Method for Water-based Nanofluids Containing Carbon Nanotubes
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with hydrophobic surfaces were processed by mechanochemical reaction. After treatment, the pristine CNTs were shortened and the hydrophilic hydroxy groups were added to their surfaces. The treated CNTs were further dispersed into distilled water to form nanofluids. It is shown that the as prepared water-based CNT-containing nanofluids have good flowing property and long-term stability. The thermal conductivity enhancement ratio is up to 12% for a nanofluid containing CNTs at a volume fraction of 1.0%
