Three-dimensional Finite Element Simulation on the Nanoindentation Process of Nacre
The nanoindentation process of nacre has been simulated based on three-dimensional finite element mothod. Berkovich indenter as a standard indenter of microhardness are adopted. The influence of the maximal loading and loading increment of every step on the simulation process are also considered. The hardness of narce is calculated by corresponding equations and compared with the exprimental results. As shown in final results, the loading increment of every step which is adjusted by finite element programme itself has little effect on the nanoindentation process, and the method can also increase efficiency of calculation. The hardness of simulation is higher than that of experiment and gradually decreases with the increase of the maximal loading.
