Simulation on the optical properties of noble metal nanoshell
Core-shell nanoparticle fabrication, optical properties and potential applications in chem-/bio-sensors have attracted much research interest. In this paper, we simulated effect of size and structure of the nanoparticle and also that of environments surrounding the nanoparticle on optical properties of gold or silver coated core-shell nanoparticles. We found an intriguing transition in the optical properties from the single phase nanoparticle to the two phase core-shell nanoparticle. We also obtained a good correlation of the simulation to the experimental results. Thus, the simulation has many implications and can guide further nano core-shell structure fabrication with optimization of its optical properties.
