Evaluation of Sub-Synchronous Resonance under Operation of Series Capacitor Compensation by Field Test
Series capacitor compensation has been widely applied in recent years to improve transmission capability of power grid. With reference to the experiences in operation of power grid in developed countries, sub-synchronous Resonance (SSR) between rotor shaft of generator and power grid in series capacitor compensated transmission system has drawn wide attention. To evaluate the SSR of Tuoketuo Power Plant precisely, it is decided to do the generator shaft torsion parameter identification test. The test had been done successfully on January 12-13, which was the first time in China. This paper presents the test method, test results, simulation analysis as well as the final conclusions.
