Solution to influence caused by lighting stroke in traveling wave fault location
Traveling wave location device can locate the lighting stroke point, but it can not locate fault point exactly when the transmission lines are exposed to lighting stroke and the fault point and lighting point are different. Based on the arriving time of lighting wave and its reflected wave from fault point a new approach is proposed to measure the relative distance between lighting point and fault point, then the location of fault is achieved by the new approach. The validity of the methods is proved by the EMTDC simulation and existing examples.
