Modern Current and Voltage Transformers for Digital Substations in Accordance with IEC 61850-9-2
Within only a few years IEC 61850 has become the No.1 Standard for modern digital substations worldwide. Within the last years also the new process bus according to IEC 61850-9-2 has been edited together with a useful application guide, enabling the integration of IEC 61850 in modern substations. The paper describes the physical basis of modern instrument transformers suitable for digital substations and especially the basic design of hybrid CTs and VTs. A short description of a demonstration switchyard with complete integrated IEC 61850 being just under erection in Germany forms the end of this presentation.
