Increasing stability of Long Distance Transmission in Sichuan, China

摘要：

Three 500 km transmission lines with about 200 km length each connect the Ertan hydropower station to the Sichuan power grid. A fixed series capacitor is installed in each of these lines to compensate the line impedance. This improves stability in the Sichuan power transmission system. Hydro-power generation of the range here under discussion generally can be found in mountainous regions. Accordingly Puti substation is about 2200 m high. Together with the climatic conditions this requires special considerations during design of the HV systems.
