Optimal Location of FACTS Devices in a Power System by Sensitivity Analysis and Transient Energy Function Method
This paper presents a new method to seek the optimal location of FACTS devices based on sensitivity analysis and transient energy function in a power system. The optimal location of typical shunt FACTS devices (SVC) in transmission line is investigated for enhancing static voltage stability and transient stability. Simulations are performed on a multi-machine power system for optimal location of FACTS devices and the results obtained are satisfying and will be useful for enhancing power systems reliability.
