Test and evaluation of the Usability of welding consumables
Usability of the welding consumables is their main property. But evaluation for usability of the welding consumables has been dependent on operators intuition and experience for a long time, and it has no a method of scientific and quantitative evaluation. The ANALYSATOR HANNOVER invented by University of Hanover, Germany can real-time sample the signals of arc voltage and welding current at the velocity of hundreds of thousands times per second. For different arc physics properties of the welding consumables, such as the lime titania type structural steel covered electrode, the low hydrogen type structural steel covered electrode, the stainless steel covered electrode and the flux-cored wire, information which reflect their properties are extracted using the ANALYSATOR HANNOVER. The results of the investigation show that the parameters, such as the sum of probability density of the short-circuiting voltage, the sum of probability density of the short-circuiting current, the sum of frequency of the short-circuiting time and variation coefficient of arc voltage, can quantitatively describe usability of the welding consumables. These parameters are determined to criterion, which found an evaluation system of usability of the welding consumables based on the ANALYSATOR HANNOVER. It realizes a technical leap from experiential and qualitative evaluation to scientific and quantitative evaluation.
