Measurement and Data Treatment of Burning-rate for Tubular Variable-burning-rate Gun Propellant by Closed Bomb Test
In order to study the combustion performance of a tubular variable-burning-rate gun propellant which is composed of two different burning-rate layers, the measurement of its burning-rate was carried out by closed bomb test. Through treating data, the different types of expression for burning-rate with pressure were gotten and compared with. The effect of inner diameter and length-to-diameter ratio of this kind of gun propellant on its combustion regularity was discussed. The results showed that the geometric size of this tubular gun propellant has visible influence on its combustion performance under constant volume and the variation of its burning-rate with pressure could not be always perfectly expressed by power function or linear function. If using the power function, then the burning-rate pressure exponent would not be constant in some cases. Usually, the quadratic function can be a better form to express the relationship of burning-rate and combustion pressure in the range of 35 ~190MPa for the tubular variable-burning-rate gun propellant.
