An experimental investigation on anechoic properties of a perforated plate muffler with different construction parameters under broad-band noise excitation
under high sound pressure levels excitation, the anechoic characteristic of a perforated plate muffler will be changed for the nonlinearity exciting, while the anechoic quantity has a close relation to the perforated plate construction parameters (porosity, orifice diameter, thickness of perforated plate). An experimental rig based on an impedance tube is established to study the verity of the anechoic characteristic of the perforated plate muffler under broad-noise excitation with different construction parameters. From the experimental results, some conclusions have been drawn: At the same sound pressure levels, the porosity and orifice diameter is smaller, the nonlinearity of the perforated plate muffler and the effective absorption frequency band is broader, but the absorption peak is smaller.
