OH Radicals Diagnosis by Optical Emission Spectroscopy in the Humid Air Corona Discharge

OH radicals have been diagnosed with pipe-nozzle-plate discharge electrodes in humid air corona discharge by optical emission spectroscopy. The humidity of the air in the discharge space, distances to the discharge nozzle electrodes and the intensity of the voltage supplied, have been studied on how they affect the number of OH radicals generated. The experiments results show that the number of OH radicals in the air corona discharge is mainly affected by two factors: the intensity of the electric field and the concentration of water molecules in the air. As a conclusion, there are more OH radicals if the electric field is more intensive and there are the biggest number of OH radicals under a certain flow of water vapor. In addition, the I/V characteristics of the discharge electrodes have been measured.
