An Image Turbo Codes Using Unequal Error Protection and Its Performance Analysis
In this paper, the traditional structure of wireless transmission system is revised and a new joint source channel coding (JSCC) scheme is provided. SPIHT and Turbo codes are applied. According to the importance of coding bits by SPIHT, A method of Turbo codes is used to provide unequal error protection (UEP) using the characteristics of Turbo codes which can achieve a balance between the rate and the complexity of decoding. After analyzing the performance of this method, several new methods are proposed. Simulation results show that this proposed scheme is efficient in reducing time-delay and enhancing error protection, especially in multimedia wireless transmission.
