Parameter Optimization and Experiment of Chirp Excitation Ultrasound Imaging
Objective Parameters that affect image quality in Frequency-Modulated (FM) signal (viz. chirp) transmitting ultrasound imaging are investigated to increase Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of the present ultrasound image. Method The simulation and acoustical experiment are completed to investigate the image quality with various parameters of FM ultrasound signal transmitting. The energy of the transmitting ultrasound is increased, and the SNR is increased too. In order to ensure that the axial resolution of the image is not decreased, the convolution method is used to decode the received ultrasound signal. Result The transmitting parameters of FM signal transmitting ultrasound imaging were optimized. The phantom B-mode ultrasound image was gained using the method. The quality of the image is better than that of the traditional B-mode image. Conclusion The SNR of ultrasound image could be increased by FM signal transmitting method. The SNR of the image of deeper tissue could be increased about 5~8db, where the ultrasound signal is attenuated severely.
