SAR Image Despeckling and Enhancement Based on Contourlet Analysis
Traditional image enhancement methods amplify noises or introduce visible artifacts when they are applied to noisy images. To effectively solve this problem, a method for SAR image denoising and enhancement based on translation invariance contourlet transform is proposed. The algorithm firstly applying a logarithmic transformation to the SAR image, which makes the multiplicative noise model to an additive one, then we use the invariance Contourlet to form the image representation, and modify the coefficients via a nonlinear mapping function corresponding to the three classes of the coefficients as to enhance the details and meanwhile restrain the speckles. The simulation results show great promise for speckle removal and hence provide good detection performance for SAR based recognition.
