Research and Realization of Primary Technologies Concerning Visualization of 3D Information
This paper includes five primary technologies on visualization of 3D information, such as modeling 、model simplification 、the level of detail (LOD) presentation 、texture mapping and feature extraction. In modeling, different modeling methods are used to reconstruct 3D geometric model from laser data, respectively, Delaunay 3D and Marching Cubes. In model simplification, we present a new advanced algorithm for model simplification. In the level of detail (LOD) presentation, we introduce progressive mesh representation, develop a real-time algorithm for view-independent LOD and define efficient refinement criteria. In texture mapping, we realize Two-part Texture Mappings to make models photorealistic. In feature extraction, we extract feature line 、contour 、normal and profile from models. These components are favorable for us to analyze and understand models.
