Video Detection of Traffic Flow and Vehicle Recognition System Based on Image Processing Technology

Based on the technology of image processing, this thesis researches into the technology of monitoring traffic flow and traffic condition by means of video detection and recognition. Founded on the analysis and comparison of the common methods of calculation in image processing, it finds out the practical and effective method of calculation, which fits the characteristic of this system. After researching in image recognition, and according to the characteristics of the moving traffic objects, it introduces the method of recognition grounded on the characteristics of object moments. Then, it introduces the principle of using image recognition technology to detect and recognize objects. Moreover, it compares and analyzes the problems that exist in image processing, such as image filtering and noise reduction, image sharpening, image enhancement, image segmentation, feature pick-up and object recognition. By comparison and analysis, it establishes the basic method of calculation that will be adopted in the design and realization of the system. Finally, it presents the design of video detection of traffic flow and vehicle recognition system.
