A New Digital Watermark Algorithm Based on Wavelet Transformation

In order to protect the digital product itself security as well as the owners benefits, the digital watermarking technique is put forward. Digital watermark is to embed a watermark (such as identification digit, serial number, text or image etc.) in multimedia documents, and it can be applied to copyright protection, secret communication, data document etc. A new digital watermark algorithm based on wavelet transformation is presented, the watermark is a binary image, and it must be thrown into confusion by using the key before embedded. First the original image is decomposed by adopting the discrete wavelet transform (DWT). Then the masked watermark is utilized to accomplish embedding the watermark into the wavelet domains, which inserts information into low-frequency part based on the weight of high-frequency and low-frequency region. Finally, the image with watermark is reconstructed by means of employing inverse DWT(IDWT). Experiment results show the watermark is invisible, secure and robust to common image processing operations.
