A Novel Low-Profile Bifilar Spherical Helical Antenna for Microwave Measurement
A novel low-profile bifilar spherical helical antenna is proposed in this paper. This antenna is a partition detruncated from the bifilar spherical helical antenna with constant ratio between adjacent two helixes. Radiation properties of the antennas are analyzed and measured, results of which indicate that this antenna can provide a directivity of >6dB and an axial ratio of <3dB over a very wide band. The radiation patterns have broad beam and 20dB front-to-back ratio, showing that it is of great value in microwave measurements and satellite communication applications.
