Perturbation Method to Measure Complex Permittivity of Low Loss Dielectric Material by Stripline Resonant Cavity
The paper mainly discusses the perturbation method to the measurement of complex permittivity by using stripline resonant cavity. The theory of perturbation is detailedly analyzed. A stripline cavity used to measure complex permittivity below 2GHz is also designed and the working frequency range is from 0.5GHz to 7.5GHz. Samples with different complex permittivity are used to the simulative computations. The range of permittivity is 1.1~10. The range of loss angle tangent is 5.0e-4~5.0e-2. The shifts of resonant frequencies and unloaded quality factors of the stripline resonant cavity after the sample is loaded are simulated by applying Matlab software. The simulative results are analyzed. The analysis shows that the shifts are big enough to be measured and the perturbation method by using stripline cavity to the measurement of complex permittivity is feasible. It is also easy to put samples into the stripline resonant cavity.
