A Novel Microwave Filter Design & Measurement
In this paper, a narrow-band band-pass filter in S-band was designed and measured. The equal-part low-pass prototype was used as the model. The model can minimized the insertion-loss while providing the need stop-band attenuation. On the base of the low-pass prototype model, the network model was built using the theory of coupled cavity resonator, and coupling coefficients between resonators and external Q factors at two terminal resonators were used as basic parameters in designing narrow-band filters. The λ/4 inductive coupled TEM-mode coaxial resonators were used in microwave realization. The designed filter is compact, stable, easily made and cheap. The S-band narrow-band filter was measured in the vector network analyzer and the tested results were compared with the theory analyzing.
