Dynamic Testing of a Novel Asymmetrical Pitch Using High Speed Image

A novel asymmetrical pitch method for rotary wing Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs) is put forward in this paper. This novel method makes use of the deformation of an elasticity link to generate the blade pitch meeting the requirement of the MAV flying mode control. In order to provide the necessary mathematical model for autonomic flight control for the micro rotary wing MAV, the dynamic curve of the blade pitch angle must be obtained. In this paper non-contact measurement using the high speed camera and image processing for measuring blade pitch angle is presented. The relationship between blade pitch angles and the output torque of the main motor is given by image processing. The measuring experiments have proved that high speed imaging technology is an effective method to test the dynamic process of the novel asymmetrical pitch.
