Performance Analysis of Active Laser Detection System

In this paper, a performance analysis is described for aerial target surveillance using an active laser detection system based on the cats eyes effect of optical windows. The relation of characteristics of back-reflected laser from cats eyes target with the main parameter of the target, including aperture, focus, size , gradient of apparatus on the focal plane, and the incident angle of the detecting laser is investigated in theory and simulation. On the basis of analysis of the back laser reflected character of cat eye effect, configuration and operating distance of an active laser detection system is analyzed. According to the data got in the simulation, the operating distance of the system is affected by peak power, divergence angle of the emitting laser beam, characteristics of back-reflected laser from target, atmosphere etc. The maximum range of the system has a consanguineous relation with the incident angle of detecting laser. The research issuers have real significance for the use of an active laser detection system based on the cats eyes effect.
