Algorithm and Implementation Based on Wavelet Transform of Differential Protection for Power Transformer

Power transformer is one of most important equipments in the modern power system. Its reliable run has great meaning for the transmission systems safety and economics run. It important for power system and the transformer ensure the safe run and reduce the fault loss. Because the power transformer takes place the fault, its influence is great .So research on the theory and its implementation can greatly improve the level safety for the different protection system of the transformer. Because the theory of power transformer protection distinguishing the magnetizing inrush current from the internal fault current is not perfect and work correct rate is not high. This paper proposes a new theory and algorithm based on wavelet transform. Comparing traditional second-frequency harmonic proportional trip theory, the speed of the output for the method much rapid than that of the traditional method. meet the fast index, it adopts the fast algorithm Mallat wavelet transform to extract the feature of the current .So that it processes the fault current is much easy than that of FFT. It uses DSP as the core collect the current, process the data, and compute the algorithm, so it is high speed. It presets the block chart of the hardware design and the principal of the algorithm.
