Sensor Fusion Based Estimation Technology of Vehicle Velocity in ABS System

The precondition of realizing slip ratio based Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is the accuracy measurement of vehicle velocity. Utilizing the wheel speed signals and vehicle body acceleration signal and considering the tire radius change and the accelerometer offset, the basic tool of sensor fusion approaches, Recursive Least Squares (RLS), is proposed to estimate the real-time vehicle velocity in ABS system. The trial results show that the difference between the estimated and the measured result is very small and can be used to calculate the slip ratio parameter of ABS control system. Meanwhile this algorithm is simply, with little amount of calculation, and easy to practice as well.
