Implementation of Smart DPT Embedded with PROFIBUS Interface and Its Configuration Tool
Differential Pressure Transmitter (DPT) is a very important instrument in industrial production. It can measure differential pressure, as well as flow, level and density of liquid. A smart DPT is presented in this paper. It is embedded with a PROFIBUS-DP slave module, which enables the DPT to directly connect with PROFIBUS FCS. The transducer is composed of differential pressure sensor, pressure sensor and temperature sensor. PROFIBUS-DP slave interface is designed using the solution which is MCU+ASIC. The configuration tool, which is for smart DPT configuration and parameter calibration directly through PROFIBUS, is implemented using Visual Basic. This tool is developed in order to improve the efficiency of configuration and calibration using computer. And the parameters include pressure value, units of pressure, ranges of pressure, differential pressure value, temperature values, calibration values etc. The PROFIBUS-DP module and configuration tool have largely improved the efficiency of production and calibration of DPT.
