Current Developments and Prospects of Novel Fiber Optic Accelerometers
Fiber optic accelerometers (FOAs) have shown great potential to overcome the difficulties associated with conventional ones. Intensity-modulated, phase-modulated and wavelength-modulated novel FOAs, as well as the corresponding distributed technology and micromachined technology, are selectively introduced. Both current developments and prospects of novel FOAs are presented. Although there are some difficulties to be overcome, the future of FOAs is concluded as optimistic.
