Mechanism of Riverway Evolvement and Effect at the Estuary of the Weihe River to the Yellow River
Riverway evolvement at the estuary of the Weihe River to the Yellow River has changed markedly since 1970s. The Yellow River has swung towards the west about 5km and there is retrogressive deposition along the Weihe River. The mechanism and effect of riverway evolvement at the entrance of the Weihe River to the Yellow River was analyzed with the survey data, historical statistic data and Landsat TM imagines of 1989 and 2000. It can be concluded: (1) Physiognomy factors at the entrance, irrigation works project and integrated environment evolvement in the Weihe River area are the main factors for riverway evolvement at the entrance of the Weihe River to the Yellow River. (2) The riverway evolvement not only results in shrinking of the riverbed at the lower reaches of Weihe River, but also reducing the ability of flood transflux. (3) As the given result, the district regionalism and local protection must be broken to implement the integrated program of the watershed and to decline the Tongguan stage to stabilize the physiognomy at the estuary of the Weihe River to the Yellow River.
