Experimental Investigation on Stability of Circular Cylinders Underwater
The moorage cylinders are typical structure in ocean engineering. There are two modes: lever moorage and perpendicularity moorage. In order to know clearly the difference of two modes and research the stability, the paper reports pool dragging experiments creatively. The experiments make clear that the forces and moments around three axes for two modes are not invariable even in a uniform stream. Choosing (D ×L) as the characteristic section, The results show that the latters mean drag coefficient is 6~12 to the formers. For improving stability of upright moorage cylinder, the paper provide a rip current measure to change its surface structure, founding that it could improve or avoid the resistance crisis phenomenon to achieve the purpose of controlling the vortex-induced vibration.
