Research on Three Dimensional Industrial Ct Imaging Method for Large Objects

Cone-beam three-dimensional industrial computed tomography (3D-ICT) based on single circular orbit scan and FDK reconstruction algorithm has become popular. It is mathematically efficient, simple and has the equal spatial resolution in the 3D space. However, limited by the length of detector, this method has a small field of view. It can not execute the 3D- ICT imaging of large object. A method called large field of view 3D-ICT, base on single circular orbit scan, was researched. Its projection pre-procession method and the filter back-projection reconstruction algorithm based on FDK principle were deduced. Using extra offset projections and the smooth processing, this method can realize the 3D- ICT imaging for large objects and avoid the artifacts caused by the incomplete projections. The results of computer simulation show that this method can improve the scan field of view along the horizontal direction no less than 70 % compared with 3D-ICT based on single circular orbit scan and FDK reconstruction algorithm.
