Non-destructive Testing the Grain Size of 42GrMo by Using Barkhausen Noises

The effect of grain size on magnetic Barkhausen Noise (BN) has been studied in 42GrMo steel. The BN signals and its waveforms have been analyzed and compared with hardness, stress, grain and coercivity. The grain size was measured by optical method. The relationship between half high ratio of BN and the grain size of 42GrMo are gotten. The different grain size can be shown by it very well. BN signals were considered to provide a better non-destructive testing method of grain size.
