Cutting Process Information Acquisition and Cutting Force Adaptive Control
It is important to acquire information from cutting process to increase metal removal rate (MRR) and reduce cutter failures. Abundant information can be taken from cutting process, especially cutting force and chatter. A closed-loop control system with information DAS including cutting process control was designed to accomplish adaptive control of constant force cutting process. For complicated dynamic process, fuzzy adaptive controller was used to adjust parameters online. Regulation factor of feed rate is determined by cutting force ratio, and force deviation and its change rate are used as evaluation indexes. Thus, adaptive control of constant force cutting process is accomplished. Simulation and cutting test indicates that the system has high precision and stability, and reduces cutter failures efficiently on condition that MRR increases.
