Effect of the Liquid Leaking to the Seal Tightness Testing of the Artillery Recoil Mechanism

This article explored the effect of liquid leaking to the seal tightness testing of recoil mechanism. Divided the channels of artillery recoil mechanism liquid leaking into through the static interface between packing seals and piston rod; through the body of packing seals; through the moving interface between packing seals and piston rod. Introduced their special mechanisms and characters. Analyzed the reason why recoil displacement, recoil velocity and working pressure of artillery recoil mechanism mounted up when the liquid leaking took place. And calculated the pressures in different leakages by simulation. Studied the hazards of the liquid leaking to tightness testing for different kinds of recoil mechanism seals. The theories in this article are valuable to recoil mechanism seals design and their tightness testing.
