The Experiment Investigation of the Dynamic Buckling of the Columns under Axial Impact1
The dynamic buckling of the elastic perfect columns under axial impact which one end is fixed, and the other end is clamped is studied experimentally. Basing on the outer trigger, the waveform of two strain gauges that are attached in symmetric pairs, on opposite columns faces near the peak of the columns buckling mode is recorded by electro-device. According to measured stress and critical bifurcate time, critical buckling load is acquired. The experimental results show that the dynamic critical load of the columns is distinctly greater than the static one under the same boundary conditions and the effect of stress wave plays an important part in the occurring1 and the growing of the buckling.
