Effect of Tempering Temperature on Mechanical Properties of 50SiMnVB Alloy Steel
50SiMnVB alloy steel is a new material in enginery industry. The effects of tempering temperature on mechanical properties of 50SiMnVB alloy steel are researched in this paper with hardness test, and dynamic compression experiment. The results show that quenching can improve the hardness of normalized 50SiMnVB alloy steel, and the hardness of these samples is descending when the temperature of tempering ascend. The split Hopkinson pressure bar technique is extensively used to characterise material behaviour at high strain rates. The dynamic stress-strain curves of 50SiMnVB alloy steel for sevral different strain rates are obtained. The results exhibit that the yield stress increases when the strain rate is improved. This point illuminate that 50SiMnVB alloy steel is sensitive to the strain rate. 50SiMnVB alloy steel tempered at C 200 for dynamic compression experiment is destroyed in the form of cutting rupture at 45 .The results indicate that its yield stress is higher than the other two but it is more brittle .
