The Property and Application of TiAlN Coatings by DC Magnetron Sputtering
The multi-component TiAlN coatings were deposited on WC-6%Co carbide and high-speed steel (HSS )respectively by using reactive direct current(DC) magnetron sputtering technique. LSCM 、 SEM 、EDS and Nano instrumented-indentation testing were used to characterize the microstructure 、element distribution 、and Nano indentation hardness of the coatings. The cutting experiments were also done. The results showed that the multi-component TiAlN coatings, with the hardness of 24.5GPa, have smooth surface, well-distributed thickness and good connection with the substrate. Cutting experiments results showed that the coated cutting tools have better abrasion-resisting than uncoated cutting tools and the tool life is longer than that of uncoated cutting tool in cutting.
