The General ATS Software Architecture Based on the TFF Structure

The general ATS (Automatic Test System) software architecture can implement the portability, reusability and interoperability of the ATS software. There are five basic requirements to achieve the general-utility of the ATS software architecture: a hierarchy framework should be adopted, the software architecture should have good extendibility and reducibility, the software architecture should have good reusability, the portability of TPS and the instrument interchangeability should be supported, and the software architecture should obey related test standards. Presently, the ATS software architecture based on the instrument, the ATS software architecture based on the signal, and the ATS software architecture based on the IVI signal interface are three ATS software architectures be often used. But, anyone of the three ATS software architectures can not really implement the instrument interchangeability. To really implement the general-utility of the ATS software, it is needed to use the driver model based on the TFF signal instead of the driver model based on the instrument. The TFF (Test Foundation Framework) is a set of interfaces that support the development and execution of TPs (Test Programs) and procedures within an ABBET (A Broad-Based Environment for Test)-compliant system in the IEEE1226 standard. The TFF provides information access and services during test preparation and setup and during test execution. The TFF is expected to work in conjunction with a program development framework supplied with a test system control computer and its operating system. In this paper, the general ATS software architecture based on TFF structure is introduced. The signal driver model based on the TFF structure, the resource model (including the equipment model, the configuration model, and the adapter model), and the database system framework in the ATS software architecture are also introduced.
