Dielectric -filled cylinder resonator and its application on millimeter wave equalizer
Coaxial resonators are widely used in microwave equalizer design. They had good performance bellow X band. While when they are used in millimeter-wave equalizers, they had a fatal disadvantage called multi-resonating frequencies character. More than one resonating frequencies were generated by one resonator. This paper provided a solution by replacing them with a novel cylinder resonator which is partly filled with dielectric. An accurate calculation for resonating frequency for this kind of resonator was obtained. The High Frequency Structure simulator (HFSS) was used to simulate this model. All results show that by changing the length of dielectric cavities and air cavities, the resonators can be frequency and attenuation adjustable. At last, a millimeter-wave equalizer composed of these partly dielectric filled cylinder resonators was designed, and the measurement shows excellent agreement with the predicted one.
