A New Multi-step Power Control Method for Satellite Communications in Ka band
A new multi-step power control method is proposed for Ka-band satellite communication systems, this method utilizing a multilevel quantizer with logarithmic characteristics, has much faster response than the other methods especially during channel state transitions. Moreover, it avoids the problem of overcompensation and successfully limits the noise or error driven power correction in the control loop. We discussed the propagating characteristics of Ka-band satellite communication channel and the throughput of the multi-step power control method is derived. The results show that the proposed method is suitable for the Ka-band satellite communication channel, the suitability of power control method should be re-examined carefully to guarantee the optimal performance and the minimum complexity in implementation.
