Research of Ultra Capacitor Group with Applications for the Rubber Type Gantry Crane
Based on the operation features of the rubber type Gantry crane, this paper puts forward a method to save energy of the crane by means of ultra-capacitor and energy management system (EMS). The EMS contains the ultra-capacitor, DC/DC converter, and FX series PLC apparatus. The EMS is used to control DC/DC converter to exchange energy between ultra-capacitor and hoisting gear of the crane. The ultra-capacitor was applied to charge energy when hoisting gear falls as well as discharge energy when hoisting gear lifts. This is proved by experiment equipment, and the experiment result shows the feasibility of this method to enhance the operation performance and efficiency of the crane.
