Image Sensor System Requirements Analysis for Micro Aerial Vehicles
In this paper, the relationship between loiter altitude and image sensor resolution, the relationship between image sensor focal length and field of view, the relationship between image sensor focal length and resolution are deduced from optical theory combined with geometry theory. By computer simulation, their relationships were obtained. The analysis of these relationships shows the important correlations between loiter altitude, field-of-view, focal length, and resolution. This work shows how to choose appropriate image sensor devices by assuming some technical standards of Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV) and analyzing the capability of different image sensors. In this paper, useful theory for choosing a MAV image sensor system is given.
