The Method of Using Information Entropy Theory to Estimate Surveying Gross Error
The estimated rule of gross error we formerly used is statistics, which presumes that the data obey a kind of normal and then examines whether the survey data contain gross error. This method, requiring large sample of figures, means sufficient survey times and infinite number of survey data, however, the realistic conditions limit the number of obtained data, which may lead to the uncertainty of distribution. Considering the above-mentioned, information entropy theory is an attempt to eliminate gross error. The estimation based on information entropy needs no limitation of the number of survey data. There is also no requirement of data distribution.
