A New Definition Framework for Software Architecture Description Languages
Software architecture is becoming more and more important in the field of study. Architecture description languages (ADLs) are aimed at communicating architecture to humans or machines. There is, however, little consensus in the research community on what an ADL is. This paper attempts to provide a utility definition of ADL by a new method, which is found in the view of that each definition of ADL is based on the concern answer to the question of what an ADL characteristics and requirements are. Parsing and leveling the words which appear with the form of the noun or verb in the description of ADL characteristics and requirements, the framework for the definition of ADL is emerged. The definition of ADL demonstrated in the paper prevents the collection of properties of toolsets associating with an ADL from being considered for it is not the essential ADL characteristics.
