Test on estimating direction of helicopter with acoustic array
The article tests the capability of estimation direction of close acoustic sources using a special microphone array, designs test plan. The data gathered in the test proves that the frequency of helicopter noise is strongly peaked around 200Hz. Comparing one value of time-delay that is estimated by cross-correlation between two original signals with another value of time-delay that is estimated by cross-correlation between the two signals after low pass filtering or wavelet filtering presents that two filtering methods above for improving time-delay estimation accuracy is limited, but enhanced robust of time-delay estimation. It is effective to estimate direction of sound source with the spatial acoustic array and the error of estimating direction is less than 1% in certain region, so the theoretical research on the microphone array for localization of acoustic target is liable.
