A New Acquisition Search Scheme for DS-UWB
In direct-sequence ultra-wideband (DS-UWB) systems, the usage of long spreading sequences and the fine timing resolution will result in a large search space during acquisition stage that will need a lot of time to achieve acquisition state. Besides, the low power of UWB signal makes the acquisition of UWB signal is a more challenging task. In this paper, we propose an improved two-stage search scheme for rapid and reliable UWB signal acquisition. The difference, between the proposed search scheme and the other two-stage search schemes, is that the two different steplengths and two thresholds are employed for each stage in the proposed search scheme. Analytical and numerical results show that the proposed acquisition scheme greatly reduces the acquisition time, which is much smaller than that of the conventional algorithm. Additionally, the proposed acquisition scheme effectively improves the acquisition performance with regard to mean miss detection rate.
