A New Active Phase Array Based on Coupled Phase Locked Loop
A new method of beam scanning via coupled phase locked loops (PLLs) is presented. The steady-state of phase dynamics equation and phase noise of coupled PLLs are analyzed. By detuning the free-running frequency of the edge oscillators, linear phase distributions across the one-dimensional PLLs array can be achieved. This coupled PLLs phase array can be used for phase-shifterless beam scanning. A S-band onedimensional experimental array is presented, giving a measured phase progression among the array.
